Yesterday, in Maia, Portugal for the first time, HE Garchen Rinpoche gave the oral transmission and instructions on the Innate Kalacakra Daily Sadhana text by Jamgon Kongtrul the First (bcom ldan ‘das dus kyi ‘khor lo lhan skyes kyi rgyun khyer). His translator, Ina Bieler, gave an excellent oral translation in English. The video of teaching will be uploaded here when it becomes available online.
I was grateful for the opportunity to offer a new translation of this lovely and simple Sadhana text for these teachings. I received the Kalacakra empowerment previously from HH Sakya Trizin, HH Dalai Lama and the Innate Kalacakra empowerment from Khenpo Chokyi Nangwa Rinpoche. I requested the oral transmission for this text from HE Sangye Nyenpa Rinpoche in Pharping, Nepal in September 2018 and then visited Pullahari monastery, the seat of Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoche in Nepal, to request clarifications on some of the passages by Drupon Khenpo. This English version was then translated into Portuguese by the organisers.
According to Kongtrul the sadhana is primarily for people ‘who do not like doing complex, elaborate rituals’ but who want to practise the generation stage of the deity as part of the preliminaries to the Six Yogas completion stage.
